Nestlé, Auchan, and Lemana Pro assets placed under Russian management

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree placing the Russian assets of Nestlé, Auchan, and Lemana Pro (formerly Leroy Merlin) under temporary external management. The management of these entities will be handled by L. E. V. Management, a Moscow-based company established in 2024.

While the foreign corporations formally retain ownership of their holdings, they have lost operational control and the ability to make key business decisions. For Nestlé, the decree specifically affects Nestlé Russia and Nestlé Kuban. The company operates six production sites in Russia, producing goods such as baby food, coffee, and pet food. Analysts estimate the value of Nestlé’s Russian business to be between 1.5 and 1.7 billion Swiss francs, though the market in Russia accounts for only approximately 1 to 2 percent of the group's total global turnover.

Nestlé has stated it is assessing all available options to protect its rights and ensure business continuity for its employees and stakeholders. This move follows a pattern of Moscow seizing control of assets belonging to companies from countries deemed ‘unfriendly,’ similar to previous actions taken against Danone and Carlsberg.
