Russia prioritises victory over Anchorage peace deals, Kremlin aide says

Kremlin adviser Jurij Usakov told Russian state media that Moscow will not wait for the implementation of the so‑called “Anchorage deals” and is instead focused on securing its own victory in the Ukraine war. He said the agreements discussed at a 2025 summit in Anchorage, Alaska, have not been fulfilled and that only one side is adhering to them, while Russia continues to make steady progress on the battlefield. Usakov added that Western hopes of a quick settlement are misplaced and that Russia’s strategy remains centred on its own objectives rather than external diplomatic timelines.

The comments underscore a hardening Russian stance, downplaying the role of any negotiated settlement and signalling that military outcomes will drive future developments.
