Russia Provides Iran with Satellite and Signals Intelligence
Russia is supplying the Islamic Republic of Iran with satellite imagery and signals intelligence, according to a report citing U.S. and European officials. The electronic intelligence, gathered from communications networks, radar systems and military weapons emissions, is said to help Tehran locate U.S. forces, improve the accuracy of its missiles and drones, and enhance its ability to assess damage and detect incoming attacks. The cooperation follows a strategic partnership agreement signed earlier in the year and may explain Iran's continued resilience against the U.S.-led air campaign in the region. Neither Moscow nor Tehran has publicly commented on the claims, and the reports remain unverified.
U.S. officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, have noted that both Russia and China have been enabling Iranian activities, while the White House has downplayed the impact of any foreign assistance on Iran's targeting capabilities.
