Su-57 fighters: Russia delivers new batch of modernized stealth jets

The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has delivered a new batch of Su-57 fifth-generation multi-role fighter jets to the Russian Aerospace Forces. These aircraft have undergone a full cycle of factory testing and operational flight evaluations by pilots from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The latest batch features a revised technical configuration designed to incorporate lessons learned from combat operations in Ukraine. Key upgrades include an improved Electro-Optical Distributed Aperture System (EO-DAS) and an enhanced Missile Approach Warning System (MAWS). Some reports indicate the new sensors are capable of tracking Meteor long-range missiles via infrared channels.

Despite these advancements, production remains slow. Since 2019, Russia has received a total of 18 Su-57 aircraft. Production capacity has faced challenges, including an April 2026 fire at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur 'Yuri Gagarin' aviation plant, which impacted the manufacturing of critical composite components such as air intakes and wing tips.
