Russia reports territorial gains and maritime strikes in Ukraine

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that its forces captured 11 settlements within a one-week period between October 17 and October 23, 2026. According to the report, Ukrainian forces lost over 1,560 military personnel, 19 combat vehicles, 12 artillery pieces, and seven electronic warfare stations in the Zapad grouping area.

In maritime operations, the Russian military claims to have struck 14 general cargo ships and one container ship intended to supply Ukrainian troops. Additionally, Russian forces conducted drone strikes against Ukrainian port infrastructure and naval vessels, including a workshop used for producing uncrewed boats at the port of Chernomorsk.
