Russia responds to Germany with biblical quote

Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded to statements made by German diplomat Johann Wadephul using a biblical citation.

Wadephul, who had requested a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, stated following negotiations that “the whole world wants peace, but Russia must prove it.”

In response, Zakharova quoted the Gospel of Matthew, stating: “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.”
