Russia showcases advanced air defense systems at Egypt airshow
Russian defense companies are showcasing a variety of air defense technologies at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026 in Egypt.
State consortium Rostec is presenting the Tsitadel, an advanced anti-drone artillery system. The system features a 30mm automatic cannon mounted on a turret and utilizes sophisticated programmable ammunition designed to detonate at specific points in a drone's trajectory. This technology aims to reduce the number of shots required to neutralize targets by creating a cloud of shrapnel. The Tsitadel is designed for high automation, utilizing thermal sensors and radar to operate day and night, and features a modular architecture for integration into broader air defense networks.
Additionally, Almaz-Antei is exhibiting a wide spectrum of air defense capabilities, including the long-range Antey-4000, the Tor missile system family, and the Viking medium-range system.
