Russia signals potential for resuming economic ties with the U.S

Russian Presidential spokesperson Dmitri Peskov stated that there is a consensus that resuming commercial and economic cooperation with the United States would provide numerous benefits to both Russia and the U.S. Peskov noted significant interest from the business sector regarding the resumption of trade and investment ties.

However, Peskov clarified that no joint mechanisms or projects currently exist to facilitate this cooperation. He indicated that the possibility of restoring these ties may depend on the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. This follows comments from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who has maintained that the Ukrainian conflict must be resolved before relations are restored.
