Russia Says It Is Open to New Peace Proposals for Ukraine
Russia’s foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zacharova announced that Moscow is prepared to discuss new ideas and proposals aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. She said Russia has never refused diplomatic talks and remains willing to consider any suggestions put forward by the United States, Ukraine or other parties. The statement came as reports emerged that American and Ukrainian officials have been discussing a possible aerial cease‑fire that could be presented to Russia in a fresh round of peace negotiations.
Zacharova reiterated that Russia’s conditions for a settlement include full control of the Donbas region, a demand Kyiv has rejected as unacceptable. The remarks were made ahead of a scheduled meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
While expressing openness, Russian officials have not detailed any concrete steps, and the conflict continues into its fifth year.
