Russia strikes seven Ukrainian cities while Ukraine hits Russian refinery
Russia launched coordinated airstrikes against seven Ukrainian cities, targeting military industrial complexes, metallurgical facilities, and oil refineries. Significant strikes were reported in Kyiv, Boryspil, Zaporizhzhia, Kremenchuk, Kryvyi Rih, and Illichivka. In the Donetsk region, Russian forces reportedly used multiple FAB guided bombs simultaneously near Sloviansk and Druzhkivka to support ground operations.
Ukrainian metallurgical plants, including Zaporizhstal and ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, were among the targets. Analysts noted that damage to these facilities, particularly blast furnaces and rolling mills, could significantly disrupt Ukraine’s ability to produce military equipment and export steel for a prolonged period.
In a retaliatory action, the Ukrainian military reported an attack on the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Russia’s Yaroslavl region. Located approximately 250 km northeast of Moscow, the refinery has an annual capacity of roughly 15 million tons. Additionally, drone strikes in the Moscow region reportedly hit a retail food store and damaged a medical center in Pavlovsky Posad.
