Russia showcases Su-57E fighter and new missiles at Egypt airshow

Russia is showcasing its Su-57E fifth-generation fighter and new advanced weaponry at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026 in Egypt. The exhibition features the debut of the S-71M ‘Monokhrom’ and S-71K ‘Kover’ cruise missiles, designed specifically for use with fifth-generation aircraft. The S-71K is noted for its ability to be integrated into internal weapon bays.

Rosoboronexport has confirmed that the Su-57E export program is expanding, with several new contracts signed for delivery starting in 2026. While specific buyers remain undisclosed due to the sensitive nature of military agreements, Algeria is a confirmed operator, and there is significant interest from potential clients in the Middle East and Africa. Experts suggest that Egypt’s industrial base could lead to deeper cooperation with Russia, potentially moving beyond hardware sales toward technology transfer and local defense production.

In addition to the Su-57E, the airshow includes the upgraded Yak-130M combat trainer. Despite the push for international sales, reports indicate Russia remains cautious about deploying the Su-57 in direct combat over Ukraine to avoid the loss of high-value assets.
