Russia targets Kyiv with drone strikes and violates Polish airspace
Russia launched a series of intense drone attacks against Kyiv and eight other Ukrainian regions. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia deployed numerous drones, including those with radiation capabilities, specifically targeting civilian and critical infrastructure.
The strikes caused damage to residential buildings, pharmaceutical facilities, gas stations, and communication networks. In the Solomianskyi district, a market hall near the central railway station caught fire, and a railway worker was injured, though the station building itself was not directly hit. At least two people were killed and 43 others were injured during the waves of attacks.
In a separate incident, Polish military authorities reported that a Russian Mi-8 military helicopter from Kaliningrad violated Polish airspace for approximately 42 seconds, penetrating 300 meters deep. Poland responded by scrambling fighter jets and placing ground defense units on alert, viewing the move as a provocation to test NATO airspace reaction times.
