Russia targets Odesa region with drone strikes on military cargo
Russian forces launched drone attacks on the Odesa region in Ukraine, targeting port infrastructure and military logistics. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that its drones struck a cargo ship carrying military supplies in the port of Chornomorsk, located south of Odesa.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) reported that the strikes caused fires and material damage across two districts. In the Odesa district, two cars caught fire, and several residential buildings sustained damage to windows, facades, and fences. In the Izmail district, an attack destroyed a residential building and caused fires involving two passenger cars and a pier.
Additionally, Russian drones targeted a complex in the port of Izmail on the Danube River, which is used for unloading military cargo supplied to Ukraine by Western nations. During the operation in the Black Sea, a patrol boat escorting cargo vessels was also targeted. While the strikes caused significant local damage, the DSNS has not reported any specific information regarding casualties.
