Russia to continue targeting ships carrying military supplies to Ukraine

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced that Russia will continue to target vessels transporting military supplies to Ukraine. Peskov stated that many commercial ships are being used to transport weapons, ammunition, and fuel to Ukrainian forces, noting that some have already been destroyed and others will continue to be targeted.

He characterized this escalation as a response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian and economic infrastructure, claiming that Kyiv ‘opened a Pandora’s box’ by targeting these facilities. Regarding maritime tensions in the Black Sea, Peskov denied that Russia initiated attacks on ships, instead placing the responsibility on Ukraine.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also confirmed ongoing strikes against ports, ships, and military and logistical facilities within Ukraine. These developments occur amidst the ongoing conflict that began in February 2022, with Russia maintaining its demand that Ukraine renounce joining Western military alliances.
