Russia to supply over 100 Il-114-300 aircraft to India
Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has secured major agreements to supply over 100 Il-114-300 regional turboprop aircraft to the Indian aviation market. Announced during the Innoprom-India trade fair in New Delhi, the deals involve several Indian carriers, including Sleek Aviation (35 aircraft), Pinnacle Air (50 aircraft), and Air Kerala (20 aircraft). Additionally, Flamingo Aerospace has reportedly reached an agreement for six aircraft.
The Il-114-300 is a 66-to-68-seater aircraft designed for short runways and regional airfields, making it suitable for connecting India’s underserved Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
Beyond initial sales, the partnership aims for long-term industrial cooperation. Omkam Aviations Pvt. Ltd. is planning the introduction of 50 aircraft with a vision for 100% local manufacturing in India through a full Transfer of Technology (ToT) agreement. This initiative includes plans for an assembly line and a training center in India, supported by principle funding commitments from Russia’s Sberbank. The project is intended to bolster India’s “Make in India” aviation capabilities and facilitate future exports.
