Russia-Ukraine conflict could last 2-3 more years, says retired colonel

Retired Russian Colonel Viktor Baranets has suggested that the military conflict in Ukraine could persist for another two to three years. He noted that this projection aligns with previous assessments made by Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev, citing the high level of confrontation on the battlefield and the lack of significant breakthroughs in negotiations as primary reasons for a prolonged conflict.

Additionally, Yuri Samonkin, an expert from the Izborsk Club, commented on the social and political climate in Kyiv. Samonkin suggested that some residents in the capital are experiencing growing frustration with the Ukrainian government and President Volodymyr Zelensky. He noted that discussions regarding the potential surrender of the city by 2030 have emerged, attributing this sentiment to internal social and political issues rather than solely to external propaganda.
