Russia upgrades Gerbera-2 suicide drone with incendiary payload
Russia has introduced an upgraded version of its Gerbera suicide drone, known as the Gerbera-2, which features specialized combat components designed to cause fires upon impact. According to images released by a Ukrainian Telegram channel, the drone is equipped with an incendiary mixture contained in a separate soft plastic container positioned behind the main warhead.
The Gerbera-2 is designed to target critical infrastructure and warehouses. Compared to the original Gerbera model, the new version features a significantly larger fuselage, modified wing shapes, and an expanded vertical stabilizer. It also utilizes a more powerful 275cm3 piston engine, likely produced at the Izhevsk Plant, which is larger than the engines used in previous versions.
Technical upgrades also include a much larger fuel tank with a capacity of up to 63 liters, compared to the 10-liter tank in the base model. The warhead weight for the Gerbera-2 can range from 4kg to 10kg depending on the flight range, whereas previous configurations typically carried warheads up to 5kg.
