Russia vows countermeasures against Japan's new sanctions

The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced that it will implement proportionate countermeasures in response to new restrictive measures imposed by Japan. Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that these responses will focus on areas of interest to Japan.

The escalation follows Tokyo's announcement of a 27th round of measures against Russia on October 2. These latest restrictions target 33 Russian legal entities, nine individuals, and several foreign companies. Notably, this round of sanctions includes new restrictions within the shipping sector.
