Russia vows political and military steps over Finland nuclear law and Estonia's aid to Ukraine

Russia’s foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zajarova said Finland’s parliamentary decision to lift restrictions on the handling, transport and possession of nuclear weapons poses a “real threat” to Russian security. She warned that Moscow will take additional political and technical‑military measures in response, criticizing Finland’s shift away from historic neutrality toward NATO alignment.

Zajarova also condemned Estonia after its national security adviser, Madis Roll, said Estonia was ready to help Ukraine coordinate attacks on St Petersburg. She labeled Estonian political elites “accomplices of terrorism,” recalling past support for Chechen separatists, and warned that Ukrainian drones have been using Baltic airspace to strike Russian territory.

The statements reflect heightened tensions between Russia and two NATO‑member Baltic states over nuclear policy and Ukraine‑related security issues.
