Russia warns of NATO conflict amid Greek support for Ukraine

Yuri Pilipson, Director of the Second European Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has issued warnings regarding Greece's support for Ukraine and the potential for direct conflict between NATO and Russia. In an interview with TASS, Pilipson characterized the Greek government's actions as “aggressive and reckless,” suggesting they could lead to serious consequences for the region and the security of the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Russian official specifically addressed concerns regarding the use of Greek waters by Ukrainian forces. He referenced an incident in Lefkada involving a Ukrainian unmanned vessel allegedly carrying explosives. Pilipson criticized the Greek administration for providing military aid to the Zelenskyy government, claiming such policies disregard the views of the majority of the Greek population.

Furthermore, the diplomatic warnings link NATO's tolerance of the Ukrainian military to an increased risk of direct confrontation with Russia. The discussions also touched upon regional stability, noting that these geopolitical tensions contribute to broader security risks in the Mediterranean area.
