Russia warns of strikes on British and French military targets
Russia has issued a warning that it may target British and French military objectives both within and outside of Ukraine. This escalation follows the United Kingdom's commitment to share classified technical information to assist Ukraine in the autonomous production of long-range cruise missiles.
The warning specifically concerns the use of Storm Shadow and SCALP missiles—high-precision air-to-surface weapons with ranges exceeding 250 kilometers. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that London and Paris are ‘playing with fire’ and warned of ‘unpredictable consequences’ and ‘inevitable catastrophic consequences’ if the current policy continues.
Zakharova asserted that any British military installations or equipment could be targeted in response to Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory conducted with British-supplied weaponry. In response, a spokesperson for the British Ministry of Defence stated that London stands ‘shoulder to shoulder’ with Ukraine and remains committed to providing the equipment necessary for Kyiv to defend itself against Russian aggression.
