Russia wins 17 medals at World Skate Games in Paraguay

The Russian national roller sports team achieved a significant performance during the first week of the World Skate Games in Asuncion, Paraguay, earning a total of 17 medals, including seven gold medals. In the freestyle skating disciplines, the team placed second overall, following Chinese Taipei.

Among the notable individual achievements, 15-year-old Veronika Zherelnikova set a new world record in the high jump discipline with a 142 cm jump, securing the junior world title. Other medalists included Maria Kapichnikova, who earned bronze in figure skating, and Egor Tomilin, who took bronze in his first world championship appearance.

This event marks a return to international competition for the Russian delegation, which is participating under its national flag and anthem following the lifting of restrictions in August 2026. Ilya Vdovin, President of the Russian Skateboard and Roller Sports Federation, noted the strength of the team's return to the international arena.
