AfD and Putin envoy plan talks on restoring Russian gas to Germany

Kirill Dmitriev, a senior economic advisor to Vladimir Putin and director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, and leaders of the German political party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) are reportedly preparing for a meeting to discuss the resumption of Russian gas supplies to Germany.

The meeting, which could take place as early as March 2027, is reportedly contingent upon a peace framework being established between Russia and Ukraine. Potential locations for the summit include Israel, the United Arab Emirates, or India. Discussions may also cover the potential reactivation of the Nord Stream pipelines.

Organizers have expressed interest in the participation of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. However, a high-ranking US official stated that both individuals have not been informed or invited to the proposed meeting. Representatives for both the AfD and Dmitriev have declined to comment on the reported plans.
