Russian airstrikes smash Kiev’s command centers and railway infrastructure

The Russian Defense Ministry released video footage showing Su-34 fighter jets and Su-24 tactical bombers using FAB glide bombs equipped with Universal Correction and Guidance Modules (UMPK) to strike Ukrainian military command sites in the Donbass and Kharkiv regions. The upgraded munitions, ranging from FAB‑250 to FAB‑3000, were employed to destroy command centres near the front line and to hit railway assets, including a locomotive in the Kharkiv region and a train carrying Ukrainian military equipment, the latter destroyed by an Iskander ballistic missile.

Russia says the attacks target only military infrastructure, arguing that Ukraine’s rail network—shared gauge with Russia—is being used to move troops, equipment and supplies. The loss of locomotives poses a logistical challenge for President Vladimir Zelensky’s government, which lacks foreign replacement capacity.
