Biała Podlaska murder of Russian artist Siemion Skrepetsky sparks police hunt
On 15 June 2026 a 44‑year‑old Russian citizen, Siemion (Simon) Skrepetsky, was shot dead on Królowej Jadwigi street in Biała Podlaska, Poland. Skrepetsky was known for satirical artwork that criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
Police classified the killing as an execution. A special investigative team was formed by the Lublin provincial police, and the Internal Security Agency (ABW) was also involved. Three people have been detained – a man who transports passengers and two Belarusian men captured near the Belarusian consulate – but the gunman who fired the shots remains at large.
Authorities have appealed for any dash‑cam footage or eyewitness reports from the area between 08:30 and 10:30 that day, urging the public to forward material to the Biała Podlaska police. Road checkpoints and patrols have been set up while the search continues.
