Russian mining billionaire Konstantin Ivanovich Strukov, who is subject to multiple international sanctions, was detained at Tivat Airport in Montenegro while attempting to leave the country. Authorities reportedly detained his flight to Belgrade, and Strukov left Montenegro after providing a statement to border police officials.

Montenegrin authorities have initiated procedures to issue a formal decision banning Strukov from entering the country, which will be delivered to his home address. Strukov is the owner of Yuzhuralzoloto, one of Russia’s largest gold producers, and is also linked to coal mines and other strategic economic structures.
