Russian citizen converts to Islam in Silifke, Turkey
Kseniia Litvinova, a 45-year-old Russian citizen living in the Silifke district of Mersin, Turkey, has converted to Islam. Litvinova, who moved to Turkey three years ago for work, stated that she researched the religion and chose to embrace Islam of her own volition.
A conversion ceremony was held at the Silifke Mufti's office, where she recited the Shahada and adopted the new name 'Güneş'. During the ceremony, Mufti Mehmet Seri Doğru presented her with an official conversion certificate and Russian-language books regarding Islam to assist in her studies.
Mufti Doğru noted that Silifke has a diverse foreign population and that many residents convert to Islam either through personal research or by being influenced by the conduct of local Muslims.
