Russian Critic Killed in Biała Podlaska, Poland

On Monday at about 10 a.m. on Królowej Jadwigi Street in Biała Podlaska, a 44‑year‑old Russian artist and performer known as Siemion Skrepetski was shot dead. Witnesses described the attack as an execution, with the assailant firing several close‑range shots. The victim had openly criticized President Vladimir Putin and Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov in his online videos.

Polish authorities detained several men in connection with the murder. Two Belarusian citizens were arrested but released on Wednesday; other suspects remain in custody. The prosecutor’s office has opened a qualified homicide investigation under article 148 para 2 and suggested the motive may be linked to Russian security services. Prosecutor Marcin Kozak said, “Everything points to the death of the Russian critic being a political murder.” Prime Minister Donald Tusk also commented on the incident. Police emphasized that residents should not be alarmed while the investigation continues.
