Russian drone strikes Ukrainian border checkpoint near Poland

A Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) struck the Ukrainian village of Starobytiv, located approximately two kilometers from the Polish border. The strike damaged a checkpoint building at the entrance of the terminal station near the Yagodin border crossing.

Roman Romaniuk, the acting governor of the Volyn region, reported that the explosion's shockwave caused the damage. No casualties or injuries have been reported at this time.

Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed that the incident did not result in a violation of Polish airspace, noting that Polish anti-aircraft systems and aircraft were prepared to respond. This incident follows a series of Russian drone strikes near the Polish-Ukrainian border, including an attack in early September that prompted increased security measures by the Polish government.
