Russia launches massive aerial attack on Kyiv and Ukrainian infrastructure

Russia launched a massive aerial assault on Kyiv and various regions across Ukraine, utilizing a combination of drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Ukrainian air defenses reported intercepting a significant portion of the incoming projectiles, including 142 drones and 31 cruise missiles.

In Kyiv, the strikes caused extensive damage to residential buildings, infrastructure, and civilian sites. A notable incident involved a Russian drone striking the headquarters of the We Are Ukraine and We Are Ukraine+ television channels during a live broadcast of the United News telethon. The strike injured at least five people and partially destroyed the newsroom and surrounding facilities. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack as a deliberate strike against journalists and called for international condemnation.

Casualties have been reported across the country, with deaths and injuries occurring in Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, and other regions. The attacks have highlighted ongoing challenges for Ukrainian air defenses, particularly regarding the increasing use of faster, jet-powered drones by Russian forces.
