Russian drone strikes hit Ukraine-Moldova border and major cities

Russian drone attacks have struck multiple Ukrainian cities and critical logistics routes, including a key border crossing near Moldova. In the Odesa region, two civilians were killed and three wounded when drones hit the Starokozache border checkpoint. The attack, located approximately one kilometer from the Moldovan border, forced Moldovan authorities to temporarily suspend passenger and vehicle traffic.

Additional strikes were reported in Sumy, where a shopping center hit by drones killed two people and injured 20. In Kyiv, jet-powered drones caused fires and injured 17 people, while attacks in Kryvyi Rih and Khmelnytskyi also resulted in injuries and property damage. Ukrainian officials suggest these strikes aim to disrupt logistics and trade networks, particularly as Kyiv relies more on overland routes due to pressure on Black Sea ports.

In response, Ukrainian forces conducted long-range strikes within Russia. Special forces reported attacking gas condensate facilities in the Yamal-Nenets region, and President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that Ukrainian forces targeted naval bases, oil terminals, and military port infrastructure.
