Russian drone with explosive warhead found off Polish coast

A Russian Gerbera-2 drone, a lighter version of the Shahed unmanned aerial vehicle, was discovered in the Baltic Sea near the village of Rusinowo on Poland's northern coast. The drone was found in a combat-ready state, equipped with an active explosive warhead and a detonator.

Specialized military units and demining teams successfully neutralized and dismantled the explosive component on-site, removing the immediate danger to local residents and beachgoers. Polish military prosecutors and intelligence services have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the drone's flight path, launch point, and whether the incident resulted from a technical malfunction or a deliberate intrusion into Polish airspace.

Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that there is a high probability the aircraft was accidentally lost by the Russian military during maritime maneuvers in the Baltic. Authorities are also coordinating with Lithuania to investigate whether the drone previously violated Lithuanian airspace. The case is being handled by a specialized military department of the prosecutor's office in Szczecin.
