Russian frigate Admiral Kasatonov spotted near German island Fehmarn

The Russian frigate Admiral Kasatonov, one of the Kremlin's most modern warships, was recently spotted in the Baltic Sea near the German island of Fehmarn. Commissioned in 2020, the vessel is equipped with nuclear-capable Zircon hypersonic missiles, which reportedly have a range of approximately 1,000 kilometers. This deployment places several NATO nations, including Germany, Poland, Denmark, and Sweden, within striking distance.

The movement follows threats from Vladimir Putin regarding retaliation against British and EU vessels involved in inspecting the Russian shadow fleet, a network used to bypass sanctions. Additionally, Dmitry Medvedev has asserted Russia's right to attack merchant ships belonging to hostile states.

This escalation coincides with US intelligence warnings that Russia could launch an attack on the Western alliance within weeks to test its resolve. Reports also indicate that Russia is establishing secret bases near the Ukrainian border to produce advanced attack drones capable of penetrating NATO territory.
