Russian guest removed from Udon Thani resort after disturbance

A 52-year-old Russian man, identified as Sergey, was removed from a resort in Udon Thani, Thailand, on August 23 after allegedly attacking the owner's son and setting fire to debris.

The resort owner, 57-year-old Kai, reported that her son heard the man shouting and setting piles of grass and rubbish on fire outside his room. When the son approached to intervene, the man reportedly chased and attacked him, prompting the son to seek help from an emergency center.

Police from the Mueang Udon Thani Police Station and Tourist Police arrived to find the man in an apparently intoxicated state and unable to communicate clearly. Although he initially refused to leave, officers eventually persuaded him to depart the property peacefully. The owner stated she requested his removal to ensure the safety of other guests.

Sergey was a regular guest at the resort, typically staying for three months before traveling to Laos upon the expiration of his visa. The owner noted she had previously provided him with discounted rates due to his frequent visits.
