Russian Justice Ministry Exhibits Hitler Items and Nazi Propaganda

The Russian Ministry of Justice has published an online exhibition titled “Protection of the Sovereignty of the Russian State. History and Present.” The showcase includes Nazi propaganda films presented without commentary, as well as personal belongings of Adolf Hitler – a military cap and uniform captured by Soviet troops in Berlin in 1945. These artifacts were announced by Deputy Defence Minister Timur Ivanov in June 2020 as part of the museum complex “Doroga pamjati” (Path of Memory) adjacent to the Main Temple of the Armed Forces of Russia in Patriot Park near Kubinka.

The exhibition also contains a detailed registry of individuals designated as foreign agents by the Kremlin, accompanied by graphics and photographs. Russian officials have linked the display to historical narratives, with President Vladimir Putin quoting Joseph Goebbels on the power of lies. The material is hosted on the Ministry of Justice’s official website, drawing criticism for glorifying totalitarian symbols and for echoing Soviet‑era practices of labeling “enemies of the people.”
