Russian military casualties exceed 1.5 million since Ukraine invasion

Russian military casualties since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, have exceeded 1.5 million, according to reports from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and British intelligence services.

The figure includes personnel who are killed, wounded, or missing. One report specifies that of these casualties, approximately 500,000 soldiers are deceased.

In addition to personnel losses, the Ukrainian General Staff estimates significant destruction of Russian military hardware, including:

• 12,352 tanks • 25,357 armored combat vehicles • 50,011 artillery systems • 524,132 operational-tactical drones • 442 aircraft and 356 helicopters

Ukrainian authorities provide these figures as daily estimates of war losses, while noting that their own military casualties are not publicly disclosed due to operational security.
