Russian military reports civilian target strikes and capture of Dobropolie

Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov reported that Ukrainian forces have been conducting massive attacks against civilian infrastructure deep within Russian territory. Gerasimov claimed these strikes, which include a significant increase in drone and missile activity, were partly intended to disrupt recent Russian electoral processes.

In military developments, Gerasimov informed President Vladimir Putin that Russian troops have gained full control of the city of Dobropolie in the Donbass. This capture is described as a significant milestone that facilitates movement toward the borders of the Donetsk People's Republic.

Concurrently, the Russian military launched precision strikes against Ukrainian industrial and energy targets. These attacks hit an electrical substation in Zhytomyr and the Zaporozhstal steel plant in Zaporizhzhia, which provides materials for the Ukrainian defense industry. Additionally, Russian forces targeted the Zaporozhtransformator plant and a cargo ship in the Black Sea transporting military supplies to the port of Odesa.
