Russian missile prompts NATO air‑raid alert over Turkey ahead of Ankara summit

A Russian missile launched from the breakaway Georgian region of Abkhazia entered Turkish airspace shortly before the NATO summit in Ankara. NATO radar systems detected the fast‑moving projectile, which was initially mistaken for a ballistic missile, and issued a Red air‑raid warning across Turkey. The alarm placed a German‑operated Patriot air‑defence battery in Malatya on highest alert and prompted heightened security measures as heads of state arrived for the summit. The missile later fell into the Black Sea without striking any target. The incident adds to a series of recent air‑space violations at NATO's outer borders, raising concerns about escalation between Russia and the alliance.
