Russian missile strike hits near Jewish school in Kharkiv
A Russian missile strike struck near the Or Avner Chabad Jewish school in Kharkiv, Ukraine, on Monday night. While the explosion caused extensive damage to surrounding residential buildings and prompted emergency rescue operations for civilians believed to be trapped under rubble, the school building itself did not sustain a direct hit. No injuries were reported on the school grounds.
Jewish community volunteers joined local emergency crews to assist in rescue efforts at the scene. Rabbi Moshe Moskovitz stated that educational activities are expected to resume on Tuesday.
The strike occurred amid conflicting reports regarding a proposed ceasefire. While President Donald Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to halt attacks on energy infrastructure, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy disputed the effectiveness of the arrangement, reporting that Russian forces continued to target energy facilities, including at least six sites in Kharkiv.
