Russian tourist found dead below Bali cliff

A search for a missing 40-year-old Russian national, G. Artem, ended tragically on Saturday, September 26, when his body was discovered at the base of a cliff in Pecatu, Bali.

Artem had been out of contact since Wednesday, September 23. The search intensified after authorities found his unattended motorcycle and helmet near Tanjung Mebulu in the Karang Boma cliff area. Following reports from local residents regarding a strong odor near Nyang-Nyang Beach, search and rescue teams utilized thermal drones to locate the body among the rocks at the foot of the 70-meter limestone cliff.

Wahyu Sidhiarta, field coordinator for the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, noted that the recovery operation was significantly hindered by steep, rocky terrain and high tides, which required teams to wait for the water to recede before evacuating the body.
