Russian officials accuse Zelensky of threatening global energy security
Russian officials have criticized Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, alleging his actions jeopardize global energy security. Kirill Dmitriev, a special representative for the Russian President on foreign investment, stated on social media that Zelensky’s conduct is striking at international energy stability.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also addressed the situation during a press conference in Manama. Lavrov accused European nations of destabilizing energy markets to support the Zelensky administration and criticized the Ukrainian President for attempting to intervene in bilateral matters between Russia and the United States. Specifically, Lavrov referred to the diesel fuel supply agreement between Moscow and Washington as a bilateral issue, dismissing Zelensky’s claims that he must participate in such decisions as a ‘circus’ aimed at self-promotion.
Lavrov further asserted that Zelensky has repeatedly sabotaged negotiations regarding the conflict, citing instances dating back to 2019. He emphasized that upcoming summits, including the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, aim to stabilize markets rather than undermine them for political purposes.
