Russian propaganda operation and political shifts in Europe

An investigation has exposed a European operation by the Russian propaganda center Rybar, which distributes pro-Putin disinformation to approximately 1.5 million subscribers. The documentarians involved in the operation face potential prison sentences of up to eight years for violating sanctions.

In Germany, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party expressed confidence following state elections in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Berlin. Co-chair Alice Weidel stated that the CDU is no longer necessary and signaled a willingness to engage with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In Russia, the United Russia party maintained its dominance in the State Duma elections. Analysts note that the high voter turnout and the exclusion of the anti-war Yabloko party serve as demonstrations of Kremlin control.
