Russian railway infrastructure damaged by drone attacks in Briansk
Ukrainian drone attacks targeted railway infrastructure in Russia's Briansk and Kaluga regions during the night of September 28. The strikes caused significant damage to the rail network, including the partial collapse of a bridge on the Diatkowo–Ludynowo section, which resulted in the derailment of 10 wagons.
In a separate incident within the Briansk region, 18 empty freight wagons derailed following a strike near Unecha. A third drone attack damaged tracks in the Navlinsky area, though train traffic in that specific location remained operational.
Russian authorities, including acting Briansk Governor Egor Kovalciuk, attributed the damage to an “external intervention.” While rail traffic was suspended on two sections, forcing passengers to use buses and rerouting other trains, no casualties have been reported from these specific incidents.
