Russian satellites linked to strikes on Saudi infrastructure

An investigation by The Associated Press and analysis from AURORAH Geosignal Intelligence suggest Russian military and government satellites provided intelligence used by Iranian-backed militias to target Saudi Arabian infrastructure. The analysis examined 40 missile and drone attacks occurring between July 1 and October 19, involving Houthi rebels in Yemen and militias in Iraq.

According to AURORAH founder Nawaf Obaid, there was a “100% match” between the timing of Russian satellite activity and the strikes. The firm noted that satellite counts near targeted areas, such as the East-West Pipeline and Ta’if, were 50% higher than July levels during the 72-hour windows surrounding the attacks.

Specific incidents include a September 10 strike on three pumping stations of Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline, which caused an immediate interruption in oil flow. Another attack targeted a Saudi military air base, damaging an Italian fighter jet inside a hangar. While the firm has not intercepted direct evidence of data transfer, officials stated that Iranian advisers likely analyze and transfer such intelligence to their allies in the field.
