Russian strike hits US‑linked drone factory in Kyiv, exposing Ukraine’s missile shortage

Russian forces launched a ballistic missile that destroyed a drone and missile manufacturing facility in Kyiv owned by a U.S. company registered in Delaware. The attack was described by former Polish prime minister Leszek Miller as the first known strike on a U.S.-flagged military plant, signalling a shift in the conflict’s targeting rules.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the strike highlighted Ukraine’s vulnerability, noting the country has only one Patriot interceptor left and that only one of 27 incoming Russian missiles was shot down. The overnight assault killed at least nine people and injured around 30, including four children. At the same time, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed doubts about authorising Ukraine to produce its own Patriot missiles, citing concerns over sensitive technology.
