Ukraine targeted by Russian drone and missile strikes FAST-MOVING

Russia launched a series of drone and missile strikes across Ukraine, targeting civilian infrastructure and cultural institutions. In Kyiv, a jet-propelled drone struck the National Academy of Sciences in the Shevchenkivskyi district, causing a large fire and killing at least one person. The attack on the historic academy has been condemned by international academic organizations as a barbaric targeting of knowledge and culture.

Other strikes caused significant casualties and damage in several cities. In Dnipro, a drone hit a business center, resulting in at least three deaths and 18 injuries. In Kharkiv, an attack on a nine-story apartment building injured 43 people, including 11 children. Across the country, authorities reported at least seven deaths and over 80 injuries from the wave of attacks.

Ukrainian officials noted the use of new, faster jet-propelled drones designed to evade air defenses. The strikes also impacted residential areas, warehouses, and energy infrastructure, leading to power outages in parts of the capital and surrounding regions.
