Russian strikes destroy shopping malls in Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia
Russian missile and drone strikes have targeted civilian infrastructure in the Ukrainian cities of Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia, destroying major shopping centers.
In Dnipro, a missile strike hit the Novyi Kontynent shopping mall, causing a massive fire that reduced the building to ashes. Local officials, including Dnipropetrovsk Governor Oleksandr Hanzha and Mayor Borys Filatov, confirmed the structural devastation. At least two people were reported injured in the attack, and emergency crews worked to control secondary fires to protect nearby residents.
In Zaporizhzhia, a drone attack struck the Amstor shopping mall on the city's right bank. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine described the complex as ‘practically destroyed.’ Firefighters faced repeated interruptions during rescue operations due to the threat of follow-up strikes. Local reports noted that children at a nearby outdoor skatepark survived the explosion by taking cover in concrete ramps. The strikes also caused damage to other civilian infrastructure, including businesses, buses, and bus stops.
