Russian Su-30 fighter jet crashes in Kaliningrad

A Russian Sukhoi Su-30SM multirole fighter jet crashed in the Kaliningrad region on October 21, 2026, during a scheduled training flight. The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the incident, stating the aircraft was flying without ammunition and crashed in an uninhabited area.

The two-person crew successfully ejected from the aircraft before impact. While the Ministry of Defense stated that the pilots' lives are not in danger, reports indicate they sustained injuries and were transported to a military hospital for medical care.

The crash occurred in the Chernyakhovsky district, reportedly between the villages of Timofeevka and Zeleny Bor. This incident follows previous Su-30 losses in the region, including a fatal crash in August 2023.
