Russian teen Mirra Andrejeva clinches French Open women's title

Nineteen‑year‑old Russian Mirra Andrejeva captured her first Grand Slam crown by defeating Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska 6‑3, 6‑2 in the women's singles final at the French Open in Paris. The victory, secured in just 1 hour 22 minutes, earned Andrejeva €2.8 million and lifted her to sixth place in the WTA rankings.

Andrejeva, seeded eighth, lost only one set throughout the tournament and became the youngest woman to win the Roland Garros title since 1992. Chwalinska, who entered the event ranked 114th, jumped from 114th to 21st in the world after her run to the final. Due to ongoing sports sanctions, Andrejeva competed without the Russian flag.

The win marks a historic breakthrough for the Russian player and adds a new name to the list of recent Grand Slam champions.
