Russian tourist found unconscious in Pattaya restroom

A Russian tourist was found unconscious in a restroom on Walking Street in Pattaya, Thailand, during the early hours of August 28. Rescuers, including Pattaya special affairs officials, Tourist Police, and volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre, responded to the scene around 2:30 a.m.

Witnesses and responders reported seeing a white powder residue around the man’s nostrils, which some suspected could be an illegal substance such as ketamine, though officials could not confirm the identity of the powder. The man’s companions, who were also reportedly heavily intoxicated, initially obstructed rescue workers and prevented them from providing medical assistance or transporting the man to a hospital.

While the man eventually regained consciousness, he remained incoherent and confused, at one point claiming his leg was missing. His friends told rescuers that he had consumed alcohol and taken antidepressant medication prior to losing consciousness. The group eventually moved the man to a ventilated area but continued to oppose an ambulance transfer.
